Shampoos cleanse your hair of product build-up, environmental residue, and oils that accumulate between washes. Most shampoos come in the form of a thick, foaming liquid with high viscosity. Shampoo formulas differ to address distinct hair care needs. Depending on your specific hair needs, your daily shampoo helps to clean your hair while increasing overall shine and providing lightweight moisture replenishment.

There are also dry shampoo formulas. Dry Shampoos come in spray form. They are applied to the roots and scalp of hair. The Dry Shampoo eliminates excess oil within the roots and scalp to allow you to prolong washing your hair. Dry Shampoo formulas enhance volume and texture at the roots. To use a Dry Shampoo simply spray roots of the hair. Then massage shampoo into roots assure the product is absorbed. Style hair as usual.

Knowing how to use your shampoo correctly makes a big difference! We always suggest you apply your hair shampoo onto wet hair. Massage gently throughout the scalp first to help increase circulation and thoroughly cleanse the scalp. Once you have created a rich lather on the scalp and roots where most of your product buildup and excess oil is found, proceed to massage mid-lengths and ends of the hair with shampoo. Rinse shampoo thoroughly and repeat. For those using a sulfate-free shampoo, this type of formula will not create as rich of a lather as it is free of sulfates. Use sulfate-free shampoos on keratin-treated hair, color-treated hair, and very brittle or damaged hair.

Most shampoos are daily use shampoos, which means they can be used frequently throughout the week. Daily use shampoos offer your hair lightweight moisture to assure that frequent washing does not dry out your hair, or create dullness. Specialized shampoos for intense cleaning or clarifying will have different directions for use. This is also the case with regards to toning shampoos that deposit color into your hair or tone the hair. Always read the instructions for your hair care shampoo before use.

Before choosing your shampoo, always keep in mind that you should first know your hair type and secondly, your haircare needs. Once you identify these two factors, you will be able to choose the best formula to help achieve your hair care goals.
