Self-Tanners are created with DHA, a fruit extract that reacts with the epidermal layer of your skin to create temporary pigmentation. DHA is derived from either sugar beets or sugar cane. Self-tans wear off gradually with bathing and scrubbing. They offer different degrees of pigmentation and usually start to work within 2-3 hours after application. Self-Tanners last anywhere between 2-4 weeks depending on the formula and how you take care of the tan.

When applying a Self-Tanner, start by bathing and exfoliating skin thoroughly. The smoother your skin is, the more even the tan will develop. Then apply the Self-Tanner using gloves or a sponge. It is always recommended to try these formulas on one spot of your skin first to assure you will not have a reaction.
